This is a map of the Tax Allocation District (TAD). As you can see, it encompasses the majority of our downtown commercial area. It was established in 2007 as a tool to promote development in our commercial area.
The increase in revenue in this district is collected in a separate fund and these funds may only be spent in this district. This means the redevelopment in this area will not provide tax relief to residential taxpayers.
- The balance in the TAD fund as of July 2025 is over $1.2 million
- Current DeKalb Tax Commissioner Receivables report shows a potential collection of $523K for the district this year.
- The DDA has control over the expenditure of these funds
- TAD funds are not being used to make payments on the $8.5 million bond for the construction of the park that resides in the TAD district.
- The annual bond payment is approximately $520,000 which is being paid fully out of the general operating fund.
